Opening up a cellar for habitable use sometimes requires us to lower the cellar floor to get sufficient headroom. This can sometimes require, dependant upon the structure of the building and its foundations, the underpinning of the building with reinforced concrete.
High water tables are not a problem as we can excavate channels around the building, lay drainage tubing to guide the water into aqua-pumping systems to remove the water.
It is advisable to have the pumps fitted with a battery powered Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) so that in the event of a power failure the cellar is kept dry until power can be restored.
Once any water problem is under control we fit delta cavity membrane and lay the concrete floors.
Below are some images taken during a recent contract which involved lowering the floor, damproofing, including the fitting of pumping systems with battery backup and installing a lift for access.
